William’s ‘tepid’ mention of Harry during speech leaves royal fans unconvinced

Royal fans have been left unconvinced that Prince William’s brief mention of Prince Harry at a recent ceremony is a sign that the pair’s alleged rift is healing.

William recently attended a ceremony to thank the donors of a statue commemorating Princess Diana, where it was reported he mentioned his brother during a speech.

According to The Sun, the speech included him saying "thank you from myself and Harry".

The statue was unveiled at the start of July with both princes in attendance but Harry did not make the trip across the pond for the recent private ceremony, with experts claiming he would be reaching out to donors personally instead.

A rift has allegedly formed between the brothers since Harry stepped down from royal duties early last year, with the Duke of Cambridge reportedly feeling "betrayed" by Harry's decision to leave the Royal Family.

And, reacting on the Royally Us podcast, hosts Christina Garibaldi and Molly Mulshine weren’t convinced that the alleged fall-out is improving.

“Many are saying that maybe this is a sign that the rift is mellowing out, but I don’t know about that,” Christina suggested.

Molly agreed: “I know, it was a pretty tepid mention.

“They said William made a brilliant speech and said thank you from him and Harry, and how happy they both were with the statue.

“Literally saying his name. It’s kind of sad that that’s where the bar is right now.”

Throughout his adult life, the Duke of Sussex has been public about the lasting legacy of his mother, with one expert even claiming that the late Princess of Wales is the “third wheel” in his relationship with his wife Meghan Markle.

And, acknowledging the importance of honouring Diana's impact, Christina noted: “The statue was something that William and Harry did work on together for a long period of time. They got approval of the design and things like that.

“I guess it was a start to finish thing and William wanted to acknowledge him, which I think is the right thing to do.”
