Meghan Markle’s first Christmas gift to Queen was ‘mauled to pieces’ by corgis
Meghan Markle once left the Queen in hysterics when she presented her with a singing hamster for her very first Christmas gift – but the unfortunate toy didn't last long.
In Christmas 2017, shortly after the announcement of their engagement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the rest of the Royal Family at The Queen's Sandringham estate.
Fitting in with the festive tradition of exchanging jokey gifts instead of another dose of luxury, Meghan decided to present something fairly outlandish for her first-time gift to the monarch.
A Royal source previously revealed to Daily Star Online that Meghan’s present for Her Majesty was a jovially singing toy hamster.
But when the monarch opened it, she apparently had little time to enjoy it before her corgis snatched it off her.
The source said: “Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty.
“It was so funny, especially when the corgis tried to take hold of the toy.
“She laughed and said ‘they can keep my dogs company!’”

It was reported that the Queen's corgis loved the gift so much that they "mauled it to pieces" over the first few months of 2018.
Every year the royals decide to exchange gifts on Christmas Eve in respect to their German ancestry tradition.
The gifts are laid out on trestle tables in the white drawing room and each is labelled with the names of each family, the source explained.
Five months on from the eventful 2017 Christmas Eve at Sandringham estate, Harry and Meghan were married at Windsor Castle's St George's Chapel.

Kate previously spoke about the firm's Christmas traditions when she appeared on a BBC festive special hosted by Mary Berry.
She said: “William's family's tradition is to open one Christmas present on Christmas Eve, which is really lovely."
