Number 10 said it would allow a vote in the Government but a vote in the Prime Minister would not be a “valuable use” of time as he has already resigned. It comes ahead of the first leadership ballot taking place today that sees eight candidates left, with former Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Trade Minister Penny Mordaunt the current favourites.
