Woman in her 90s found dead in home as man arrested on suspicion of murder | The Sun

A PENSIONER has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 90s was found dead.

Police discovered the body of the elderly lady at her home in Hampshire shortly after midnight on October 7.

Hampshire Constabulary said the woman's family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.

On Monday cops said they had arrested a man in his 70s and known to the woman.

He has since been released on bail.

Neither the victim, who lived alone in Waltham Chase, near Bishop's Waltham, or the suspect have been named.

One person told the Hampshire Chronicle how on the night of the murder residents on Chase Grove were woken to cops in forensic suits.

The old lady had been a long-term resident of many years, another said.

In a statement, Hampshire Constabulary said: "Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Waltham Chase.

"Police were called shortly after midnight on Friday 7 October to the report of a death of a woman in her 90s at an address in Chase Grove."
