A woman thought an email telling her she had won a £90,000 lottery jackpot was a scam because she believed she had no chance of winning.
The player, a 47-year-old woman who chose to remain anonymous, told officials at the Michigan Lottery that she thought the email informing her that she had won a whopping $110,689 was a scam.
“I knew that by playing the Monthly Jackpot game online, I was earning entries into a second chance giveaway”, said the American player.

“I never thought I would win the second chance drawing, so I was just hoping for an instant win while playing the games”, she added.
“I decided to wait until the next day to do anything about the email because I was certain that I hadn’t actually won. When I got a call from the Lottery a few hours later confirming my prize, I was so excited! Winning is such an unbelievable feeling."
She later visited the state lottery’s headquarters to collect her winnings, which she said she wants to use to make some home improvements.
While the unnamed woman had the smarts to put the money for something sensible, the same can’t be said for British man Gerry Donaldson, whose story The Daily Starreportedon in late January.
Gerry was jailed for failing to pay a £12,000 court debt just 10 years after he won a hefty £250,000 off a scratchcard.

He was convicted of growing cannabis, and ordered to pay a confiscation order.
The prosecutor involved in his case told the court that there were “no details” on where his winnings had gone.
A former neighbour of his said it seemed “incredible” for anyone to go through so much money in such a short period.
"He had his kids to look after which is fair enough but to have nothing left from getting such a huge sum and now being sent to jail is such a downturn”, the neighbour added.
