Woman, 21, claiming to be Madeleine McCann ‘could have leukaemia,’ doctors claim

The DNA and blood tests of the woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann has sparked worry among her doctors.

Julia Wendell, 21, is currently in California, US, having been whisked from her home country after receiving death threats.

She went viral on Instagram after sharing supposed "evidence" to show she is Madeleine, the Leicestershire girl who vanished while on a family holiday in Portugal in 2007.

Julia's claims are being probed by private detective and self-professed medium Dr Fia Johansson, who is with her at the safehouse in California.

Dr Johansson has taken Julia out there to have a series of DNA and blood tests.

And speaking to The Sun, she claims that there are a series of health issues which are worrying doctors – including the possibility that she could have blood cancer.

Sharing the details with the permission of the 21-year-old, she said: “We are still waiting on the result of DNA testing that will show us exactly what Julia’s ethnic background is and what country she and her true family are from. These kinds of tests are very accurate.

“Of course depending on the result of that we will continue our investigation to see if Julia is could be Madeleine or another missing person.

“She has had a neglected childhood and suffered much abuse – her health is very poor she has bad asthma and she suffers lots of pain in her bones.

“She is booked in for a CT and MRI scan because of the pain in her bones.”

She went on to explain that Julia's blood work is “so abnormal” and that US doctors are looking into whether or not the woman has leukaemia.

“If she needs any treatment we will make sure she gets that,” she added.

“She is staying with me in my home and my family has welcomed her with open arms – they love her.

“She says this is the first time she has experienced love or felt like she belonged in a family.

“I am helping a woman in need who asked for help and support.

“It’s not about money or followers or anything like that – I had that before Julia.”

The parents of Madeleine McCann, Gerry and Kate, have yet to comment on the recent updates of the saga.

Bizarrely, the family who have raised Julia refused to have DNA tests done around three weeks ago.
