Wheat Ridge police: Man arrested after “fake bomb” found at pub

A man was arrested after a device made to look like an explosive was found at a pub in Wheat Ridge over the weekend.

The Wheat Ridge Police Department reported the incident about 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Twitter, saying a large police presence was in the area of Clancy’s Irish Pub, 7000 W. 38th Ave., responding to a suspicious package.

A few minutes later, police reported an all-clear, saying the device was not explosive, “although certainly made to look like one.”

The Department then reported Sunday that a man was in custody facing charges of possession, use or removal of explosives or incendiary devices.

The man is also facing a menacing charge for a similar incident at a Wheat Ridge bank last month, police said.
