Wagner chief Prigozhin ‘attended Berlusconi’s funeral in Milan’

Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin answered a request for comment by the German edition of Freiland Magazine about a suspected Ukrainian missile attack in the Kremennaya area claiming he could not comment on that specific day as he was attending Silvio Berlusconi’s funeral in Milan, Italy.

According to VK News, Yevgeny Prigozhin said: “I can’t answer anything about what happened on June 14 in Russia, since on that day I was at Berlusconi’s funeral.”

Despite Berlusconi’s longterm friendship with Vladimir Putin and his allies, it is highly unlikely the Wagner chief could travel unnoticed to Italy.

The unrealistic claim came as Russian forces kept up their aerial attacks on Ukraine. They launched four cruise missiles and 20 Iranian Sahed exploding drones overnight, the Ukrainian air force said.

Ukrainian air defences downed all the drones and one cruise missile, it said.

Russian missiles hit industrial facilities in the latest strike on the southeastern city of Kryvyi Rih, Zelensky’s hometown, wounding one person, local officials said.

An airstrike also hit downtown Kherson city in the early hours of Thursday, punching a hole in an office building.

Russia also attacked Kharkiv and Odesa with drones overnight, but regional authorities said they were all shot down.

Italy’s political, business and soccer elite bade farewell to former Premier Silvio Berlusconi with a state funeral inside Milan’s imposing Duomo cathedral on Wednesday.

With Berlusconi out of power for more than a decade, just two heads of government attended the funeral: Hungarian President Viktor Orban and Qatar’s ruling emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Putin offered heartfelt condolences from Moscow. Other nations sent ambassadors to the funeral organised just two days following his death Monday after being hospitalised for treatment of chronic leukaemia.
