Travellers arrive at playing fields in Warrington with around nine caravans setting up camp
- Cheshire West and Cheshire Council has served group notice to leave the fields
- Some of the group at Dallam Playing Fields came from another encampment
Travellers set up camp on playing fields in Warrington yesterday evening.
Around nine caravans arrived on the grass to the right of the rugby pitch at Dallam Playing Fields.
An aerial photo and other images show white caravans on the field with red gas canisters and what appear to be steel milk can pails.
Cars, pick-up trucks and other vehicles can also be seen.
The group were served with a section 60C notice from Cheshire West and Chester Council with a deadline to leave the fields by 4pm today.

Officers from Chester Police arrived at the council-owned grounds off Longshaw Street with a number of police cars also seen, The Warrington Guardian reported.
It is thought some of the Travellers had come from another unauthorised encampment close to the nearby Winwick Quay.
Amateur rugby club Bank Quay Bulls ARLFC play their matches at Dallam Playing Fields.
The encampment comes days after the club held its tenth anniversary Bundy Day memorial event in memory of former player Alan Bundy Clare.
Writing on its Facebook page, the club said after the annual fun day on Sunday: ‘Thank you. From us to you, players to parents, volunteers, referees, stall holders and small businesses.
‘These days could not be possible without the help and support of you all! What a day we have had doing what we do best, bringing the community together and remembering some of our favourite people!
‘We have danced, bounced, played plenty of rugby, had our hair braided, faces painted and won copious amounts of prizes.’

Last year an unauthorised encampment threatened to cancel the rugby club’s annual Bundy Day, but it went ahead as planned in the end
Mr Clare plunged to his death in 2013 after falling from a hotel balcony in Benidorm, Spain.
He was in the holiday resort celebrating a stag do with friends when he tried to climb on to the balcony from an open window, it is believed.
The 34-year-old’s body was found at the four star Las Dalmatas Hotel near the resort’s Levante Beach after falling five storeys.
Friends paid their tributes online to Mr Clare – known as Bundy – posting messages of shock and grief to his Facebook.
Joanne Boyle wrote: ‘Still carnt believe your gone, just wish it was a big nightmare!!
‘You was such a lovely lad, guna miss are fun times we ad on are hols, it will never be the same!! Sleep tight bundy!! Rip!!! Xxxxxx’ [sic]
