Serial killer map shows how close to a sadistic murderer you could be living

An interactive app that pinpoints where some of the UK's most notorious serial killers lived shows you just how close you’re living to the scene of the crime.

The homes of Jack the Ripper, and Fred and Rose West are all on the sinister map, as well as Peter Sutcliffe and Myra Hindley.

It'll tell prospective home owners how many victims each murderer is believed to have, the location, and what the current value of a home in that location is worth.

Online Mortgage Advisor.co.uk created the serial killer infographic using information about the killer's grim past.

The service also features a link to Google Street View, which lets users walk the steps famous killers might have taken.

Here's a round-up of some of the most expensive areas that UK serial killers have lived in, based on the current property value in the local area, are:

North London (Dennis Nilsen) – £919,551

London’s East End (Jack the Ripper) – £601,697

Bradford (Donald Neilson) – £284,892

Hyde (Harold Shipman) – £252,193

Pete Mugleston, MD and Mortgage Expert at Online Mortgage Advisor, commented: "Recently, the UK has become obsessed with the lives of serial killers. The UK media and our streaming platforms have been saturated with TV shows focusing on picking apart the lives and mental states of some of the world’s most well-known serial killers.

"This dark side of UK history is so interesting for many reasons, and it’s obvious to see it has many people hooked out of curiosity.

"Being able tovirtually walk the routes that some of our most dangerous serial killers took on a daily basis, thanks to our interactive map, is another way to remind us that serial killers were just outwardly normal seeming people living in most unremarkable houses in ordinary areas. That, I suppose, is the most unnerving thing about people like this."
