In 2008 Roman Reigns was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 22, a condition he has now beaten back for the second time.
Reigns opened up on his condition back in 2019, when he spoke to Chronicle on the WWE channel.
He discussed how he found out, a doctor telling him “something was going on with my blood tests”, leaving them wanting to do more.
He recalled being called into a room by the medical team.
“When I got there, I could tell. The whole crew was in there. And they broke the news that my white blood cell count was obviously elevated.”
But Reigns said that the time the condition was noticed was good, with medicine improving all the time.
He said: “It’s pretty much where you wanna catch this disease, this illness, and pretty much for me there’s a pill that they make," Reigns said. "They make an oral chemotherapy. There’s a few different types now. When I first started there was just one.
“It’s not like taking Advil. It’s nothing like taking radiation and true chemotherapy, but it does have its side effects. It does have its nastiness about it. But at the end of the day, if you’re lucky enough to just take a pill, I think you’re ahead of the game.”
Reigns returned to WWE in 2019, announcing on Raw that he was in remission, news that was met with huge support from the crowd.
