The Queen’s final words in private are not known, as it has not been confirmed what she shared before her passing.

However, the Queen did send out one final official statement before she died, a heartfelt message to Canada.

It came after a series of stabbings in Saskatchewan in Canada that took place on September 4.

The Queen said: “I would like to extend my condolences to those who have lost loved ones in the attacks that occurred this past weekend in Saskatchewan.

“My thoughts and prayers are with those recovering from injuries and grieving such horrific losses. I mourn with all Canadians at this tragic time.”

The Saskatchewan mass stabbings occurred in 13 locations on the James Smith Cree Nation and in Weldon, Saskatchewan.

11 people died and 18 others were injured.

What was the Queen’s final address to the UK public?

Throughout 2022, the Queen made fewer appearances than usually due to her declining health.

Her last statement to the public came during Christmas 2021, when she gave her traditional TV broadcast.

She looked back on her late husband, Prince Philip, who died that year at the age of 99.

The Queen said: "Although it's a time of great happiness and good cheer for many, Christmas can be hard for those who have lost loved ones. This year, especially, I understand why.

"For me in the months since the death of my beloved Philip, I have drawn great comfort from the warmth and affection of the many tributes to his life and work – from around the country, the Commonwealth and the world.

"His sense of service, intellectual curiosity and capacity to squeeze fun out of any situation – were all irrepressible.

“That mischievous, enquiring twinkle was as bright at the end as when I first set eyes on him.

"But life, of course, consists of final partings as well as first meetings – and as much as I and my family miss him, I know he would want us to enjoy Christmas."
