Putin opposition politician poisoned with cancer-causing ‘heavy metal salts’

A Russian opposition politician was poisoned with potentially cancer-causing heavy metal salts several months ago.

Moscow-based politician and Putin critic Elvira Vikhareva was stricken down late last year, according to a report by independent outletSota, citing Vikhareva’s medical lab test results.

The 32-year-old experienced stomach pains, hair loss, heart palpitations, numbness in her limbs and seizures/fainting on multiple occasions.

The symptoms were consistent with prolonged poisoning with heavy metal salts, according to The Insider, citing a doctor.

Certain heavy metals – like arsenic, cadmium, chromium, and nickel – are toxic because the molecules that make up the metal damage or negatively interact with the cells in your body that are essential to keep your organs functioning. Their salts can be harmful to humans.

Vikhareva said she began to fall ill in November 2022, initially blaming the symptoms on workaholism.

In February, Vikhareva wrote in her Telegram channel that she was running out of “all possible energy and physical resources.”

The politician, who has run against Putin, said she spent a lot of money on treatment as her condition got worse and worse.

Writing on Instagram yesterday (March 25), she said: "I'm still the one you remember, except for the shaking hands and the 'cooked' stomach – which are treatable, except for the skin covers and conjunctive consequences, which are well disguised by cosmetics and drugs.

"Don't get your hopes up, I will not surrender, I will not get stuck in a corner waiting for compassion, and I will not keep quiet."

In December she posted a video of Putin clutching a champagne flute inside the Kremlin and called him a "goblin".

"They lie, that Goblin leads Crimea. Nope. In the Kremlin he is leading," she wrote.
