Putin ‘bans his own daughter from leaving Russia’ over fears she may not return
Vladimir Putin’s oldest daughter, Dr Maria Vorontsova, has reportedly been banned from leaving Russia because of fears that she might never return to the country.
Dr Vorontsova, who was born when her father was still a KGB agent, had reportedly planned to celebrate her 37th birthday on a tropical beach but according to the the General SVR Telegram channel, when she applied for permission to leave the country: “Putin responded with a categorical refusal, strengthening the security protection of Maria.
“According to our information,” the as-yet unconfirmed report continued, “the president’s eldest daughter did not plan to return to Russia.”
Dr Vorontsova shares a son with her Dutch ex-husband Jorrit Faassen, who is the son of a senior NATO military officer. She is believed to have been planning the holiday with her new partner, Yevgeny Nagorny.
The 33-year-old was once opposed to Putin’s government but since getting together with the leader’s daughter he has changed his views, landing a £90,000-a-year job and an extensive luxury home in exchange for his loyalty.
Dr Vorontsova is a noted researcher at the National Medical Research Center for Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of Russia, specialising in genetic conditions in children. She has been sanctioned by Western countries as a result of to her family relationship to Putin.

Dr Vorontsova had been planning to build a new ultra-modern medical centre near St. Petersburg, but Western sanctions over the war in Ukraine have sunk the project.
“The plans were to attract patients from Europe and rich sheikhs from the Persian Gulf countries,” reported Russian investigative journalist Sergey Kanev.
“And now, after the attack on Ukraine, what kind of Europeans and sheikhs will come?”
She’s known to enjoy travel in Western countries, although her position on her father’s invasion in Ukraine is not publicly known.
She, along with her sister Katerina, deputy director of the Institute for Mathematical Research of Complex Systems at Moscow State University, has made no statements on what Putin still insists on calling the “special military operation” in Ukraine.
The women also have a half-sister, Elizaveta Krivonogikh, who is also known as Luiza Rozova. She’s the daughter of former cleaner Svetlana Krivonogikh, 45, who since her reported affair with Putin has become the co-owner of a major Russian bank.
Putin – like many in his inner circle – is believed to have had at least two wives and an unknown number of children. He’s very dismissive of enquiries about his private life, saying: “I have a private life in which I do not permit interference. It must be respected.”
He expressed a strong dislike of “those who with their snotty noses and erotic fantasies prowl into others’ lives”.
