Puppy found ‘almost dead’ dumped in bin makes incredible 2-month transformation

An abandoned puppy who was found unconscious in a dumpster has made a remarkable two month transformation.

Dawn was "almost dead" when she was discovered with severe injuries at a CDMX dump in Mexico on January 3 this year.

The bloodied pooch was located by a pensioner who was left "distressed" by her frail condition.

The man alerted pet shelter Mascotas Coyoacán who came to her rescue and rushed her to the vets for two life-changing surgeries.

They said they found Dawn, who was three months old at the time, with her ribcage showing through her wounded skin.

Her snout was viciously tied up with rope, the shelter added.

Marcela Goldberg, who runs the facility, said it took Dawn two months to fully recover and described her previous owners as "heartless."

She told the Daily Star: "Dawn was found in a CDMX dump, with injuries to numerous parts of her body and unresponsive.

"As the scabs of her wounds fell off it became clear that they had her snout tied with a rope.

"The rope was tied so tightly that it caused a part of her lip to become necrotic."

She added: "I don't believe in revenge, but to someone who can be so heartless I don't know what I would say.

"When there is indifference to pain, you can try to raise awareness, but when it is pure evil, I don't know how to reverse it."

Marcela said that once Dawn was discharged from the vet she welcomed the pooch directly into her home.

The adorable dog, believed to be partly Labrador, has since found her forever home.

"At first she was scared but it took just a few days for her to be cheerful and play all day, especially when she came out of hospital," Marcela added.

"She is almost a year old now. There are scars on her skin that will never go away, but her new family don't care.

"On the contrary, they take them as a symbol of their resilience. And she is the best friend of the two little boys in the family."

The pet shelter has gone through unprecedented hardship during the pandemic. To donate visit here.
