Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ‘not actually holding hands’ on festive card

    Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are not actually holding hands in a Christmas card snap posted by their parents the Prince and Princess of Wales.

    The Kensington Palace couple's official Twitter account showed an informal snap of the whole family strolling side-by-side down a sun-kissed pathway framed by grassy banks, with the caption: "Sharing a new picture of the family for this year’s Christmas card!"

    The children, Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, seven, and Prince Louis, four, and their parents are all dressed casually – with William wearing jeans – and smiling radiantly for the camera.

    But fans were quick to point out that Charlotte and Louis are not holding hands, with one saying: "Of course it's Princess Charlotte & Prince Louis not actually holding hands," adding: "Great great picture of everyone!"

    Another two followers noted that brother-sister relations are can sometimes be a little awkward, with the comments: "As a younger brother I can totally relate," and: "Ha! Likewise as an older sister." A further fan simply added: "Oh , Charlotte…"

    It comes as King Charles III released his first Christmas card as Monarch as he paid a subtle tribute to the Queen.

    The festive card features a photo of the then Prince of Wales and his wife Camilla, at the Braemar Games in Scotland.

    “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year,” the card read.

    The photo was captured by award-winning photographer Sam Hussein on September 3 of this year.

    During the games event Charles cut a heather rope to mark the opening of the Queen Elizabeth Platinum Jubilee Archway, in tribute to his late mother.
