Prince Harry and Meghan could ‘hijack’ and ‘overshadow’ Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

Senior royals fear Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could upstage the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations and "hijack" and "overshadow" the momentous milestone if they decide to attend.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not officially confirmed if they will attend the four-day event yet.

However MailOnline reports that the couple's brief meetings at Windsor Castle with the Queen and Prince Charles were to discuss attending the celebrations with their children, Archie, who is three next month, and Lilibet, who will turn one during Jubilee festivities and whom the Queen is still yet to meet.

And the Duke of Wales has reportedly expressed concerns to his inner circle that his son and daughter-in-law could dominate the Jubilee if they do and detract from commemorating the Queen's 70 years of service with their "circus", reports The Sun.

A royal source told The Sun said: “Charles wants the Platinum Jubilee to focus only on the Queen.

“Many are disappointed that Andrew overshadowed Prince Philip's thanksgiving service and don't want the Meghan and Harry circus to hijack the Jubilee.

“This is the Queen’s show and should be about her and her 70 years of service rather than Meghan’s fashion, the kids and Harry.

“They don’t want it to become the Harry and Meghan show. Charles and all the family are agreed on that.”

The Sun also reports there are concerns that Netflix will want to film Harry and Meghan at Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Currently, Harry and Meghan's Netflix entourage are following their every move at the Invictus Games in the Netherlands for as part of a £113million deal the Sussex have with the streaming platform.

This has raised concerns that Netflix will want behind-the-scenes footage of the Platinum Jubilee also, which includes family at Trooping the Colour and a Royal Family gathering on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

An insider told The Sun: “The Royal Family will be watching on at Invictus events this week concerned where Netflix will be when the Jubilee comes round.

“They will want to film behind the scenes or be in the crowd at the Jubilee as its better footage for the documentary.”

The Daily Star has approached Prince Charles and Harry and Meghan's representatives for comment.
