Prince Charles tests positive for Covid for second time and self-isolates

Prince Charles has tested positive for Covid-19 and is now self-isolating, according to Clarence House.

The official Twitter account of the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall broke the news as the Prince of Wales cancelled today's engagements.

The tweet said: "This morning The Prince of Wales has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating.

"HRH is deeply disappointed not to be able to attend today's events in Winchester and will look to reschedule his visit as soon as possible."

Charles was due to visit the Great Hall at the Castle , Winchester, and also unveil a statue of Licoricia of Winchester in the city today.

The announcement of Charles' positive test comes just hours after the Prince and wife Camilla were at the British Asian Trust event with Home Secretary Priti Patel and Chancellor Rishi Sunak at the British Museum last night.

It is not known whether Mr Sunak or Ms Patel have also tested positive.

Charles has been busy with royal duties over the last few days with a visit to the National Gallery to see 'The Credit Suisse Exhibition: Dürer's Journeys' and 'Kehinde Wiley at the National Gallery: The Prelude'.

He also carried out Investitures at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, including handing out an MBE to Dr Nisreen Alwan for her involvement in the UK’s COVID-19 response and campaigning for more awareness of long COVID.

The news comes as Prince William is currently on a royal visit to Dubai.
