Politician strips naked on Zoom for shower after forgetting to turn off camera

A bungling politician appeared stark naked during a Zoom meeting giving colleagues an unexpected eyeful.

Anti-Kremlin MP Maxim Petlin, 48, forgot to turn off his camera before leaving his desk to strip off and march past it for a shower.

When later called out for his sudden nudity at work, the red-faced Russian dismissed the allegation as "nonsense".

Petlin's attempt to quietly step back from an apparently tedious disciplinary hearing for a municipal MP, could not have backfired any more embarrassingly.

His fellow committed politicians in the anti-Kremlin Yabloko party, refused however to let the liberal undressing distract them from their discussions at hand.

Petlin, chairman of the party’s Sverdlovsk branch, was seen suddenly getting up from his desk, undressing and parading naked in front of the camera at his home in Yekaterinburg.

Hilariously everyone else on the call did their best to not focus on him, and continued with the meeting as if nothing was happening, a report claims.

Unfortunately for Petlin, a screen recording of his bare cheeked activity in the meeting, was leaked to Mash news outlet.

Asked about the “embarrassment” by URA.ru Petlin replied: "Did I appear naked? What is this nonsense?

“There was an online meeting today. I don’t seem to remember that I appeared naked.”

His party has not commented on the episode.

Eight years ago, his party stood by the then Ekaterinburg MP when he was convicted of extortion and sentenced to a three years in jail.

The party said the case against him had been “fabricated” by the authorities and that Petlin was a “political prisoner”.

Last year when workplaces were still adjusting to online video meetings a city councillor accidentally walked out of a shower naked during a video call meeting.

Bernardo Bustillo, who works as a part-time city councillor in Torrelavega, the northern Spanish autonomous community of Cantabria, appeared to have forgotten to turn off his camera during the online meeting.

In the clip, Bernardo is seen by eight other councillors when he is taking a shower behind a translucent screen.
