People on plane that plummeted 4,000ft say they were ‘told to delete chaos pics’

Passengers on an extremely turbulent Lufthansa flight were allegedly told by the airline to delete footage taken during the hellish experience.

Reports claim the nightmare turbulence saw the plane drop 4,000 feet and was forced to make an emergency landing at Washington DC’s Dulles Airport.

The long-haul flight from Texas to Germany on March 1 is understood to have suddenly hit a freak patch of turbulence just as dinner was being served.

Speaking to Insider, a passenger called Rolanda Schmidt explained how a member of the crew had twice announced to passengers they had to delete any footage taken of the incident.

She said: “I think we were all just like ‘what?!'”

In the second announcement, the crew member is understood to have said footage needed to be deleted in the name of passenger privacy issues.

Schmidt said she had been injured during the turbulence, telling the publication she suffered a concussion, a possible fractured hip and a bruised arm.

Terror was running high during the incident. “I thought we were going down,” said Schmidt.

A second passenger also told the publication the crew asked passengers to delete their footage of the incident.

As was always likely, however, a lot of footage from the flight made it to the Internet moving through social media channels.

Onboard was Matthew McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alves, who also posted footage of the incident.

Captioning the image she said: “To respect the privacy of those around me that’s all I am showing but the plane was a CHAOS And the turbulence keep on coming.”
