Overnight road closures on Sixth Avenue set for bridge work

The city of Denver has requested two closures of West Sixth Avenue between Federal and Sheridan Boulevards next week for pedestrian bridge construction. These closures are scheduled to be overnight.

The work seeks to improve the bearing system and prolong the life of the bridge, according to a news release.

Here’s a list of closures:

Monday, April 26, eastbound closure: Lanes going eastbound on U.S. 6 near Sheridan will be closed at 8 p.m. and will be fully closed by 10 p.m. These lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. Motorists traveling eastbound will exit U.S. 6 at Sheridan using Colfax or Alameda avenues to get to Federal. Westbound lanes will not be impacted.

Tuesday, April 27, westbound closure: Lanes going Westbound on U.S. 6 near Federal will close at 8 p.m. and will be fully closed by 10 p.m. These lanes will be open by 5 a.m. the following day. Drivers traveling west will exit U.S. 6 at Federal using Colfax or Alameda to go west to Sheridan. Eastbound lanes will not be impacted.

Since work is determined by weather conditions, the schedules may change, according to a news release.
