NYC passes 1 million mark for COVID-19 vaccine doses

New York City has now given more than 1 million vaccine doses, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday.

Hizzoner said there have been 1,032,158 COVID-19 shots administered to date — a figure he had hoped to reach last month.

The mayor blamed drug manufacturers in part for the lag, saying at a press briefing, “We need to see the pharmaceutical companies set up in a way they are not right now,” noting there are only two immunizations currently available.

The rolling seven-day average of the city’s coronavirus positive-test rate is 8.09 percent, de Blasio added.
