‘My boyfriend was actually born a woman – he tricked me in bed with fake penis’
A woman has told how she was tricked into going out with a violent predator who wore a fake penis to pose as a man.
Roxanne Shurmur, 30, met Tarjit Singh on a dating website – but didn’t know Singh had been born Hannah Walters.
Singh, 32, who now identifies as a man, strapped down his breasts, insisted on having sex in the dark, and kept clothing on so Roxanne did not know he used strap-on sex toys.

When Roxy eventually found his prosthetic penis and birth certificate, Singh beat her and threatened to set her on fire.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Roxanne said: “He was caring, funny, down to earth and he spoke, acted and dressed like a guy. I had no reason to believe he wasn’t.
“When I finally realised I’d been tricked, I felt sick and ashamed.”
Roxy had put Singh’s awkwardness in bed down to insecurity. She said: “He didn’t undress in the bedroom and kept his T-shirt on and wouldn’t let me touch him.
“I thought he was insecure about his body but after that night he didn’t seem in a hurry for sex. He said he wanted us to get to know each other.”
Two weeks later, Singh claimed he was having a sex change to become a woman.
Roxy said: “I thought he was joking, then twigged he wasn’t. I told him I wasn’t gay and thought, ‘I’ve got to get out of this’.

“But dumping him on the spot felt callous, so I decided to break up slowly and support him in the meantime.
“I tried to talk to friends but TJ found out and punched me, telling me not to discuss his business.”
Singh concocted a story saying he had been for a sex change operation and started wearing a binder around his chest.
When Roxy aired her suspicions, Singh attacked her.
Roxy tried to flee, but when Singh saw her packing he doused her in lighter fluid and threatened to set her alight before beating her until she passed out.

When she found the prosthetic and birth certificate “my mouth fell open. TJ had lied all along and there’d never been any sex change or surgery. But I couldn’t say I knew for fear of my life.”
Singh’s violence persisted, he even smashed his phone into Roxy’s face and fracturing her nose, until one night neighbours heard her screaming and called the police.
An investigation found Singh had two more victims, one who was just 16 at the time.
In July, Singh was convicted at Snaresbrook Crown Court of three counts of assault by penetration, six counts of actual bodily harm, and one count of making a threat to kill.
The judge jailed Singh for 10 years, with an additional three on licence, labelling him “an accomplished and manipulative liar”.
Roxy, of Dagenham, east London, said: “Tarjit Singh was the biggest mistake of my life.
“I still get nightmares, but I won’t let that liar ruin my life.”
