Man set for life after winning lottery six times in a row with same numbers

A man on an insane lucky streak thanked his "intuition" after winning a lottery prize six times in a row with the same numbers.

Raymond Roberts Sr from Fall River, Massachusetts, USA, used numbers which are a combination of anniversary dates and birthdays.

Massachusetts State Lottery said in a statement that Roberts won six $25,000 (£20,000) a year for life prizes in the multi-state Lucky for Life game.

This means he matched the first five numbers on six tickets he purchased for the draw.

And Mr Roberts decided to take a lump sum for five of the winning tickets, landing him a cool $390,000 (£320,000) five times, which meant $1.95million (£1.6m).

For the sixth ticket, he opted to go for the $25,000 per month for life.

Asked why he had made the bizarre decision to buy six tickets in the same draw, he described it as "intuition".

He added that he felt good about the numbers, and he had done for more than 20 years. He said it was finally time for the big payout.

Asked about what he wanted to do with the cash, the white-bearded winner said he planned to buy himself a brand-new motorbike and take to the road before planning what to do with the rest of it.

He is not the only winner, as the storekeeper who sold the ticket will get a $5,000 (£4,000) bonus, which works out as a bonus and six tickets, which means a total of $30,000 (£24,500).

Each ticket costs $2 (£1.64). Participants have to choose five numbers between one and 48 together with a single lucky ball number between one and 18.
