King Charles gave Meghan Markle strange nickname due to her ‘toughness’
King Charles has an affectionate yet controversial nickname for his daughter-in-law Meghan Markle.
While the relationship between the controversial royal, and wife of Prince Harry, and Charles was never thought to have been close, the new King appears to have warmed to her enough to have labelled her with the nickname “Tungsten”.
The claim comes from royal author Katie Nicholl's latest book The New Royals.

According to the Royal expert, the name was given to her because of her “toughness and resilience”.
For those who don't know, Tungsten is a rare but extremely tough – almost unbreakable – metal found on Earth.
And the nickname stuck during the Sussexes' joint appearance with Prince William and Kate Middleton at the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018.
Nicholl's wrote: “It was, according to one aide, the moment William and Kate, who was heavily pregnant, realized they needed to up their game.
“The Cambridge's had already signalled their intention to be more than 'ornamental royals' and had, along with Harry, made a huge success of their mental health campaign Heads Together.
“But Meghan was the breakout star of the foursome.

“She was polished, passionate, and funny, using all her TV-honed skills to present her case.
“That was a wake-up moment for William and Kate when they realized that Meghan was very impressive, very confident, and very capable, according to a source.”
The name has never been used in public, and Meghan has never commented on it, but one can only assume that King Charles means it as some kind of back-handed compliment.

Some fans on Twitter speculated about it.
One said: “When Prince Charles nicknamed #MeghanMarkle Tungsten(one of the most resilient materials on earth)it wasn't as a compliment.
“It was out of frustration because everything they had done to break her and Harry down didn't work.
“Their love was stronger than anything the royals had seen.”
