A chaotic video shared on social media shows a group of keen bargain hunters battling for the best deals while shopping at Asda, amid the growing cost-of-living crisis.

Shoppers can be seen huddling together and laughing as they scramble for items at the back of the shelves – even as staff continue to try and place more.

Abbie O’Neil, from Liverpool, filmed the scenes which are believed to be at an Asda store in the Merseyside area.

As multiple shoppers try and grab as many items as possible, one woman is seen holding multiple packets of reduced price ham, pizzas and various other items.

The woman, who bravely pushed her way to the front, can then be heard saying, ‘I’m stuck in the thing’.

An elderly woman stuck behind her then asks her, ‘can you pass me that ham?’ before she kindly obliges.

With the urgency of the task, most of the shoppers are even seen rushing to clear the shelves without even holding a basket to put their multiple items into.

Instead, a balancing act ensues where the shoppers stack the items on top of each other to try and keep them stable.

Ms O’Neil who recorded the video is heard saying: ‘Oh my God, this is the funniest thing ever.’

Posting the video on TikTok, she wrote ‘I only wanted chicken’ next to a laughing emoji.

The video received mixed responses, with some finding the bargain hunters amusing.

One user wrote: ‘The woman not even looking at what she’s buying just grabbing it all.’

Another however, branded the act as ‘greedy’ – pointing out that ‘it should be one or two items per person so everyone can have some’.
