How and when to access your ATAR
What is the ATAR?
The ATAR is the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank, which is a tool designed to assist tertiary institutions when selecting students for courses. It provides an overall measure of a student’s relative performance in their VCE studies.
The ATAR is created by VTAC using the results from a student’s successful completion of the VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education), as assessed and administered by the VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority).

VCE students will receive a score from the VCAA for each subject a student completes, which reflects their relative performance in that study only. So that institutions can fairly compare students who have chosen different subject combinations, VTAC applies a process of scaling to each study score before it is used in the calculation of the ATAR.
Students who have satisfied the requirements for the VCE and have study scores in one of English, English as an additional language, English language and literature and at least three other studies (in a permissible combination) are eligible to receive an ATAR.
When can I find out my ATAR?
ATAR and VCE results are released on Thursday, December 16, at 7am (AEDT).
You can receive your VCE results and ATAR in three ways:
The above are joint services providing your VCE results from VCAA and your ATAR from VTAC. If your school has recorded an email address for you, you will also receive your VCE results (but not ATAR) by email.
If you access your results online or using the Results and ATAR app, you will need your VCE student number and results service password.
What is my results service password?
Your results service password is the secure password that you chose when registering for the Results and ATAR service.
Registration has been open since Monday, August 2. If you didn’t register before results were released, you still need to register before you will be able to access your results.
Post-results and ATAR service
If you have questions about receiving your results and ATAR, there will be a telephone and email service available from 7am on Thursday, December 16. This is a joint service of VTAC and VCAA so you can ask questions about both your VCE results and ATAR.
Any questions you have should be directed to 03 9637 3877 (metro callers) or 1800 653 080 (country callers), or by email to [email protected] The phone service is available, and email replies will be sent during the following hours:
