Harry and Meghan fans furious at ‘vile’ joke about Archie at King’s coronation

Fans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were fuming as a royal expert made a "vile" joke about their young son.

Robert Jobson suggested that three-year-old Prince Archie should be dangled over the Buckingham Palace balcony during King Charles' coronation in May.

He said it in homage to the way Michael Jackson notoriously did with his son Blanket on the fifth floor of Hotel Adlon in Berlin in November 2002.

Jackson, who claimed he was simply just over excited, was forced to apologise to his fans over the incident as it caused outrage around the world.

At the time, he said: "I got caught up in the excitement of the moment. I would never intentionally endanger the lives of my children."

King Charles' Coronation on May 6 coincides with his grandson Archie's fourth birthday.

As per tradition, the royals are expected to gather on the balcony overlooking the Mall after the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey to watch the procession.

With this in mind, Jobson joked that Charles would blow out Archie's birthday candles and then held his hands out in imitation and referred to "that Michael Jackson thing where they hold him over…"

But royal fans branded the joke as "tasteless" and "vile" as they took to Twitter.

One user, named Myra, said: "Hearing King Charles' biographer boldly state that Prince Archie should be held over the Buckingham Palace balcony during the coronation is vile…"

Freelance writer R.S. Locke worried that "calls for violence are getting louder".

He wrote: "Robert Jobson thinks it would be funny to dangle Archie over the balcony.

"Eammon Holmes wants Harry & Meghan thrown off it. Jeremy Kyle wants Meghan thrown down a well.

"Jeremy Clarkson wants Meghan paraded naked & faeces thrown at her.

"Calls for violence are growing louder."

Musician Stella Parton said the joke was "tasteless" and admitted she "couldn't believe it" when she heard the remark.

She tweeted: "Was anyone else shocked by the British media making such a tasteless joke about Harry and Meghan’s son Archie being put over the balcony at the Coronation?

"These are evil people! I couldn’t believe it when I heard it!"

More than 2,000 people are expected to pack into Westminster Abbey for the ceremony before the royals watch a parred back procession from the Palace balcony.

Reports yesterday suggested Harry and Meghan want to be part of the "special family moment" when royals gather.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to be on the guest list, though it is unclear if they and their son and one-year-old daughter, Princess Lilibet, will attend.

Meanwhile, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will join their grandfather and the Queen Consort Camilla as they leave the Abbey.
