Gran killed by 5 bulldogs found after failing to collect grandchild from school

A tragic gran who was viciously mauled to death by a pack of American bulldogs was found because she didn’t pick her grandson up from school.

Ann Dunn, who was found dead in Liverpool on Monday, October 3 after neighbours heard screaming, was discovered after her family “realised something was wrong” when the school notified them of her absence at the gates.

Tributes have poured in for the 65-year-old, who was much-loved in her community and lavished as a "lovely" person and a "happy girl".

Cops have since confirmed that five dogs have been destroyed with a 31-year-old man arrested on suspicion of owning a dog dangerously out of control. He has since been released on conditional bail.

One neighbour told the Daily Mirror: “She was meant to be picking up her grandson from school and it was only when the school got in touch with his mum to say he was still there and no one had come for him that they realised something was wrong.

“When I found out I was so upset. I couldn’t sleep that night, I was laid awake thinking about what state she must have been in when they found her.

“It’s awful and so sad.”

The brutal incident saw Ann become the ninth person in the UK to be mauled to death this year, with NHS data showing that two areas of Merseyside fell into the top five areas with the highest incidences of dog attacks.

Tributes poured in for Ann on social media.

"I am all so heartbroken for you kids and family right now. Don't want to even think how they feeling.

"So happy I got have old chat with you on Friday even though it was only for 10 minutes, keeping looking [over] your family."
