Gran, 55, brutally stabbed in her own home by female burglar in front of terrified grandson – The Sun

A GRAN was brutally stabbed in front of her terrified grandson after a female knife fiend barged inside and stole her laptop.

The 55-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with horror knife injuries to her upper body, arms and head after the "brutal and unprovoked" attack in Longsight, Manchester, at 4.15pm yesterday.

She had been home alone with her young grandson when her attacker, described as a black woman in her 20s, knocked on the front door.

The woman then launched a frenzied assault – which officers are treating as attempted murder – as the young boy looked on in horror.

The victim remains in hospital in a stable condition, while her grandson was checked over by paramedics and had no injuries.

Police said her attacker had braided shoulder length hair and was wearing dark clothing, a waist-length overcoat and black trainers with white soles and was carrying a large dark green bag.

'BRUTAL AND UNPROVOKED'

It is also believed she had a distinctive walk with her right foot facing outwards.

Detective Inspector Mark Astbury, of GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said: “This was a brutal and unprovoked attack.

“We are currently treating it as a case of attempted murder.

“Undoubtedly this will cause concern among the local community and residents.

“I want to stress that we are doing everything in our power to trace the woman responsible.

“This is a particularly unusual attack in that the victim was subjected to a violent assault within her own home.

“I must make it clear that we will not tolerate this kind of violence on our streets.

“The incident happened in the afternoon and as such I would expect that somebody may have seen something.”
