Death & Co Denver named one of North America’s 50 best bars

Denver is home to one of the top 50 bars in North America, according to judges of The World’s 50 Best, which ranks bars as well as restaurants across the continents.

The inaugural North America’s 50 Best Bars Awards took place on June 7 in New York. Among the top 10 bars were three in New York and three in Mexico City (the others were in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami and Toronto). The No. 1 bar: Attaboy in New York City, where “each drink is custom-tailored for the guest after a brief conversation,” the judges wrote.

Coming in at No. 36 on the list was Denver’s Death & Co, which has its flagship location in New York. But it was the opulent Death & Co Denver inside The Ramble Hotel on RiNo’s Larimer Street that made this year’s 50 Best list.

“While the space might have a drastically different atmosphere than the New York original, guests can still expect the same attentive hospitality and uncompromising standards for quality cocktails, with seasonal menus tailored for adventurous drinkers of all backgrounds,” says the review on 50 Best Bars’ website.

At Death & Co Denver, customers get their choice of a few different drinking and dining spaces, starting with the luxurious main lobby bar, but also including a casual daytime coffee counter, a cozy speakeasy, Suite 6A, and a festive rooftop garden.

The bartenders’ latest spring menu features drinks such as the Alabaster (with rum, aloe vera, falernum, mint, lime and cucumber),  and the Disco Tiger (vodka, cappelletti, melon, lemon and vanilla). Cocktails are priced from $16 up to $35 (for rarer spirits). Mocktails, beer and wines are also available.

In addition to North America’s 50 Best Bars, the 50 Best group also publishes The World’s 50 Best Bars and Asia’s 50 Best Bars annually.

If you go: Death & Co Denver is at 1280 25th St., open from 3 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and until 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The coffee shop opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. daily, and the rooftop garden is open from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. More information at deathandcompany.com.
