Bloke hijacks plane, threatens to crash into supermarket and dies in custody
A bloke who hijacked a twin-engine plane and made terroristic threats where he threatened to crash the plane into a supermarket has died while behind bars.
Cory Patterson, 29, was charged with stealing a plane and threatening to crash it into a Walmart based in Mississippi, United States.
The 29-year-old former airport worker has since died in police custody, according to his attorney Tony Farese and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, who say he was found unresponsive at the prison.

Staff and a responder of the medical services attempted live-saving measures on Patterson, who was pronounced dead at the facility after being found unresponsive at 1.20pm.
Threats from Patterson at the time saw the 29-year-old steal a twin-engine aircraft and call 911 to say he would be crashing into the local Walmart.
City officials rushed to evacuate the store and the surrounding area, with Tulepo police shutting down major streets and guiding Patterson into landing the plane in a field where he was arrested.
Patterson arrived at a Miami-based detention centre for psychological evaluation on November 10 and was found unresponsive in his cell just eight days later.
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner's office has said the death of Patterson is still under active investigation.

FBI officials and members of the Federal Bureau of Prisons are also investigating Farese said, although a spokesperson for the FBI could neither confirm nor deny an active investigation, CNN reported.
Patterson had some flying experience but had never landed an aircraft before, Daily Star reported.
Farese has stated that his client Patterson, who previously pleaded not guilty to charges of grand larceny and making terroristic threats, took his own life while held in prison, with investigations reportedly underway.
