Ignacio Arostegui’s Volkswagen Fox destroyed a tree and ripped it off its roots

Both Arostegui and his male friend, who has not been named, fortunately were able to walk out of the wrecked Volkswagen Fox without any injuries.

Arostegui was filmed by his pal speeding down an avenue adjacent to Varese Beach, showing no regard for motorists on the four-lane road, and outrageously claiming, ‘if we kill ourselves, we kill ourselves,’ in a video that was uploaded by one of the individuals to social media.

His friend implored him to roll up the window on the driver’s side of the car as he accelerated and laughed at the beginning of the viral video that lasted slightly over 90 seconds.

Arostegui subsequently continued to shout ‘if we kill ourselves, we kill ourselves’ as his friend appeared to come to his senses and told him, ‘you jerk, you are going to kill us.’

Arostegui repeated the same phrase once again before he climbed over the sidewalk and struck the cobblestone walk before he plowed into the tree.

A breathalyzer test showed that Ignacio Arostegui blood-alcohol level was measured at 1.03, well past the limit of 0.5

His friend immediately stepped out of the vehicle as Arostegui followed him and shouted, ‘we killed ourselves, we killed ourselves.’

Several outlets reported the Mar de Plata city government would be presenting Arostegui with a bill to cover the repair of the wall.

Pablo Martínez Carignano, who heads Argentina’s National Road Safety Agency, condemned Arostegui’s erratic behavior that may have led to multiple deaths or serious injuries had he collided with other motorists.

‘The images speak for themselves. Alcohol at the wheel kills because among other things, driving while intoxicated produces a feeling of false security and loss of inhibitions that permit making decisions such as driving at high speed without dimensioning the danger,’ Martínez Carignano said in a statement.

‘Luckily today there were no fatalities to mourn, but it is necessary for all people who drive to understand that driving is a responsibility, that traffic regulations must be respected and that alcohol should not be consumed prior to driving.’
