Asda shopper humiliated as ‘disgusting’ staff tell her she’s ‘basically naked’

A woman claims she has been subjected to “the most disgusting behaviour” after a member of staff in Asda told her she was “basically naked and shouldn't be there”.

The shopper named Jaiah said she was in the store on the Isle of Dogs, east London, when it happened, the Mirror reports.

She posted video footage of the incident on social media, with an employee being heard to say: “We can see your body almost. The manager is coming right now.”

Jaiah, who was wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, claims the worker, who has not been named, told her she didn't respect herself and she was breaking the supermarket’s dress code.

He can be heard saying: "It's not because you don't respect yourself, we have a policy in Asda.”

Jaiah shared her experience on Twitter, posting on the @jaiahfern account: “So tonight in Asda, Isle of Dogs, I was told by an employee that I wasn’t wearing enough clothes, I wasn’t respecting myself, that I’m basically naked and I shouldn’t be in there. Honestly the most disgusting behaviour.”

Responding to her post, Asda said: "Hi Jaiah, thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is not a recognised policy at Asda and we are really sorry for the service you received.

"I've spoken to the store manager who is addressing this incident and I would be happy to discuss how we can put it right for you?”

One of the comments on the tweet, from Zoe (@_zoe93), says: “It would be great if men could stop policing women's clothing choices.”

A spokesman for Asda said: "As soon as we were made aware of this incident we launched an investigation within the store.

"We have been in contact with Jaiah to explain that this is not our policy and to apologise for the negative experience they had on this occasion."
