Anti-vax nurse 'injected 8,600 people with saline solution instead of vaccine'

An anti-vax nurse may have injected up to 8,600 people with a saline solution instead of a Covid vaccine.

The Red Cross nurse is suspected of using the fake jabs on high risk elderly people in northern Germany in early Spring.

German authorities urged thousands of people who got their first jab at a vaccination centre in Friesland to get another dose.

The unnamed nurse’s motive is not yet clear but she had aired sceptical views about vaccines in social media posts.

While the salt solution is harmless, detectives said that based on witness statements there was ‘a reasonable suspicion of danger’.

It was not immediately clear whether the suspect had been arrested or charged by police.

‘I am totally shocked by this episode,’ local councillor Sven Ambrosy wrote on Facebook.

According to German media, it is being investigated by a special unit that looks into politically motivated crimes.
