Rishi Sunak has appointed Suella Braverman as Home Secretary in his Cabinet reshuffle on Monday The re-appointment of the divisive Home Secretary has been met with mixed messages as people view her as either the right woman who can crackdown on immigration or as a woman with “cruel” policies with no empathy or care for human rights.

Political commentator Matthew Stadlen tweeted: “Absolutely appalling that Suella Braverman is back as Home Secretary.

“Not only does this signal a return to the cruel policies of the Boris Johnson/Priti Patel Governemnt, Braverman was only forced out as Home Secretary last week!”

GB News host Dan Wooton discussed the new appointment with Nigel Farage and asked him if Ms Braverman is “the woman to finally deal with the Channel invasion”.

The former politician replied: “Only if she is allowed to be…You have to be allowed to do what you need to do.”

He mentioned Priti Patel, Ms Braverman’s predecessor who was unable to pass a number of policies she saw as a way to crackdown on the migrant crisis including the Rwanda deportation plan, which has been blocked by the European Commission of Human Rights.

Mr Farage added: “Braverman, who I do like and do admire, she put her finger on it in her previous very short stint as Home Secretary that unless we leave the European Commission of Human Rights we are not going to go anywhere.”

In her previous position as Home Secretary, Ms Braverman attempted to continue pushing for a clamp down on the issue but Liz Truss and her newly appointed Chancellor Jeremy Hunt disagreed.

The pair believed that what was needed for the economy and for Ms Truss’s growth goals was for immigration rules to be relaxed.

Mr Farage continued: “[Braverman being put back in, initially I thought ‘hooray this is terrific’ and then I realised what Sunak had done…was to say to the world, ‘look you’re on the right of the Conservative Party, you should be happy’ despite the fact that this is a complete globalist takeover.

“I will predict here and now that she will not be allowed to do the things that she wants to do.

“I will not be surprised if within a year, we see a second Braverman resignation.”

Twitter user and Reform UK supporter @Dredekia tweeted GB News and Nigel Farage: “Suella was appointed to appease the grassroots and make people think maybe it’s not going to be so bad after all.”

Labour MP Chris Bryant expressed his frustration at the reshuffle, saying: “Appointing Suella Braverman as Home Secretary just days after she was sacked for a security breach doesn’t smack of integrity, competence, professionalism, or sensible politics. It’s just cynical manoeuvring.”
