Crypto Exchange Coincheck To Bring LAND NFTs To Japanese Gamers

Cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck has announced that it will be the first Japanese company to plant a flag in The Sandbox gaming multiverse.

Coincheck is one of the largest digital currency exchange platforms in Japan, with over 2.25 million users, and one of the first exchanges to secure Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) criteria for licensing.

The Sandbox, a subsidiary of game developer Animoca Brands, is a community-driven gaming platform that allows creators to monetize assets and gaming experiences on a blockchain, enabling them to benefit from their creations. The Sandbox enables players to build, own, and monetize their gaming experiences through the use of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and the utility token $SAND (the ERC-20 fungible token that serves as the main utility token of the platform). LANDS are non-fungible tokens (ERC-721) NFTs that represent unique digital locations in the universe of The Sandbox, where players can build and monetize games.

According to the release, Coincheck acquired a large number of LAND ERC-721 NFTs in The Sandbox, which it will offer to Japanese gamers through its Coincheck NFT marketplace scheduled to be launched soon. Japanese users are already becoming interested in NFTs through influencers, gamers, and creators, and the partnership is expected to strengthen this trend.

“This announcement is a sign that The Sandbox and Coincheck will make Japanese market together,” said Kensuke Amo, executive officer of Coincheck. “As NFTs and blockchain penetrate society in the near future, real space will gradually merge with virtual space . At that time, The Sandbox will be a must-have place for everyone present at the time. We look forward to further collaboration and providing it to Japanese users!”

“We are delighted to kick off our partnership with Coincheck, the number one cryptocurrency exchange of Japan, with this exclusive LAND NFT sale,” said Sebastien BORGET, COO & Co-Founder of The Sandbox. “We are already seeing significant growth in our community of Japanese Artists and Game Creators, and we expect the Japanese market to play an important role inside The Sandbox’s metaverse. We are excited to welcome Japanese players and culture within our gaming virtual world!”
