Cardano Foundation and Petrobras Partner for Blockchain Education Initiative

On 20 December 2023, the Cardano Foundation announced a significant initiative in blockchain education, partnering with Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned energy giant. This collaboration marks the first time the Cardano Foundation’s blockchain education program will be utilized by Petrobras, aiming to enhance the understanding and adoption of blockchain technologies.

Petrobras, officially known as Petróleo Brasileiro S.A., is a Brazilian multinational corporation in the petroleum industry. It is a state-controlled company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Petrobras is one of the largest oil and gas producers in the world and plays a significant role in Brazil’s energy sector.

The company is involved in the exploration, production, refining, and distribution of oil and gas. It operates oil refineries, oil tankers, and a vast network of pipelines. Petrobras has a significant presence in the global oil market and is known for its expertise in deep-water and ultra-deep-water oil production.

Under this partnership, the Cardano Foundation will conduct blockchain education workshops for Petrobras employees. These workshops will leverage content from the Cardano Academy, delivered through Petrobras University. The program is designed to explore the potential of blockchain, its diverse applications, and use cases. Participants will engage in interactive quizzes and discussions, deepening their understanding of blockchain technology.

The initiative kicked off with two workshops conducted in the Metaverse, focusing on regulatory aspects of blockchain both globally and within the Brazilian context. This innovative approach underscores the program’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.

The Cardano Academy, developed by the Cardano Foundation, is a blockchain education program. It serves as a reliable resource for those keen on understanding the potential of blockchain technology.

For Petrobras, the Academy’s content will be customized to fit its employee training programs, benefiting over 40,000 employees. Upon completing the course, employees will receive a certificate in blockchain training.

Adding to the program’s appeal, the first 500 Petrobras participants in the Cardano Academy will receive a unique NFT. This NFT, minted in partnership with the Petrobras Education Board, will evolve to reflect the participants’ progress and achievements throughout the training.

The Cardano Foundation views its partnership with Petrobras as a stepping stone to broader initiatives. These initiatives aim to enhance blockchain understanding through employee education and explore new applications of the technology in the energy sector.

Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, commented on the partnership, emphasizing the Foundation’s commitment to empowerment through education. He noted the significance of collaborating with Petrobras, a Fortune 500 company, highlighting the growing interest in blockchain education among enterprises and the expanding influence of the Cardano Foundation.

Petrobras echoed these sentiments, recognizing the partnership as a bold step in leveraging blockchain technology for new use cases within the energy sector. They emphasized the crucial role of education in this innovative partnership, aligning with their mission to harness blockchain’s power in the energy industry.
