This year the bar and restaurant’s Christmas extravaganza returns complete with its much-loved ice rink and with plenty more festive eating and drinking experiences both sky-high and at ground level across the Dock’s iconic Grade-I listed warehouses and cobbled lanes.
Special not least because it’s Europe’s only rooftop ice skating experience, the unique venue and event space is also host to the panoramic Igloo Village, Après Ski Lodge bar, Off-Piste Speakeasy bar and Christmas Cocktail Cinema.
All of them can be enjoyed separately or as a full day or evening package making Skylight Christmas at Tobacco Dock a one-stop centre for festive fun.
The two Igloo Villages are now in full swing, one on Skylight Rooftop and another beside the canal. Each igloo seats groups of up to 10 who can enjoy intriguing cocktails, shared platters and street food from an Alpine-inspired food menu.
Warmed with mini-heaters, these bubbles come with bracing welcome drinks (Champagne upgrades available), Alpine-inspired decor, complete with faux-fur rugs and thick blankets for extra cosiness. Guests can also take advantage of full table service and a dedicated food and drink offering – tip for all foodies – try one of the awesome veggie burgers.
For those looking for some festive escapism, the Christmas Cocktail Cinema will be showing back-to-back classic Christmas movies throughout the run. The cinema will be an adults-only experience with cocktails and gourmet snacks on hand. Guests can enjoy refreshments before the film begins and also during an interval – allowing for pop-corn top ups and a fresh glass of something delicious. Film showings confirmed so far include Home Alone 1 and 2, Love Actually, The Holiday, Last Holiday, Bad Santa, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, Die Hard and Bridget Jones’ Diary.
Guests and cinema goers can also enjoy Off-Piste – a secret speakeasy cocktail experience amid the intimate setting of exposed-brick walls and burnished copper décor. Off-Piste offers a special 75-minute aperitif session Ski School to kick start the jollies before destination igloo. There’s also general admission seating, where guests can enjoy a la carte cocktail ordering.
The Après Ski Lodge is themed around a mountain chalet and set on Skylight Rooftop’s lower level, complete with low-lit benched seating, bauble-decked Christmas trees and snug sheepskins. Skylight Rooftop will also continue to play host to sheltered and heated seating for those looking to make the most of the views.
To ensure a smooth visit, Skylight will offer an on-site concierge service, where guests can book various experiences and add-ons whilst they’re at the venue.
