Payment Giant Mastercard Is Hiring 175 Blockchain Specialists

MasterCard, the payment giant is aiming to hire 175 new employees as technology developers. On placement, employees will be based in Ireland to perform a role of blockchain specialists, Data scientists, software engineer, cloud infrastructure and security experts.

Mastercard which had halt cryptocurrency purchases via credit card in early 2017 is calling crypto enthusiast to join its team. According to an announcement on Thursday, Mastercard is hiring 175 new staff with blockchain and data science experience. With the intention to expand its innovation framework, it is moving to its Ireland based Headquarters.

The research and development team of The Mastercard Labs is headquartered in Leopardstown, Ireland.

Mastercard Ireland’s country manager, Sonya Geelon said:

“We’re driving projects that promote financial inclusion at home and abroad, and are working to provide consumers, businesses, and governments with the most innovative, safe as well as secure ways to pay”.

Mastercard to improve payment proficiency

According to the announcement, 175 newly hired team will be working with one target to build more efficient payment systems. The Mastercard is now working on groundbreaking innovations in AI and Blockchain. However, the new staff will also be including as data scientists, software engineers, project managers, analysts, cloud infrastructure experts and security experts.

Noticeably, the payment giant is considering the blockchain application services.

2016 Blockchain APIs

Since 2016, the Mastercard was aiming to offer developers into evolving technology. Therefore, it had released a set of blockchain based APIs in which the technology hasn’t commercialized yet.

Similarly, in 2017, in the month of September, Mastercard unveiled that it will be using a system for B2B transactions. However, the service used a distributed ledger to transmit fiat currency.
