Zara Tindall missed meeting Meghan and Harry after to ‘boozy lunch’ with royals

The Queen’s granddaughters Zara Tindall and princesses Eugenie and Beatrice missed catching up with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry during the Jubilee celebrations after a ‘boozy lunch’ ran late, it is claimed.

The cousins had planned to meet the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the ‘celebratory’ family lunch which came after the Red Arrows’ display over Buckingham Palace.

But according to the Telegraph, sources claim the lunch overran and there was no time for Zara, Eugenie and Beatrice to meet the Sussexes.

Royal sources are said to have revealed that Harry and Meghan left immediately after the Trooping the Colour ceremony to head back to Frogmore Cottage, their Windsor home, to see their children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

The swift exit meant the couple missed the family lunch with cousins including Beatrice, Eugenie, Zara and Peter Phillips.

Several sources are said to have told the Telegraph the cousins had planned to pay Harry and Meghan a visit at Frogmore later that day.

However, the lunch went on much longer than planned. One insider said: "It was quite boozy and went on well into the early evening, by which point there was no time to get to Windsor to see the Sussexes."

It was the first time Harry and Meghan were reunited with the Royal Family after their bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.

The Telegraph reports that Harry and Meghan flew into Farnborough airport the day before the Trooping ceremony and headed straight for the Queen’s private apartments to introduce their daughter Lilibet to her great-grandmother for the first time.

The couple had hoped to bring their own photographer to capture the first meeting, but the Queen is said to have personally intervened to prevent an official image being taken.
