Young mum-of-two mauled to death by dogs while house-sitting for friend

A young mum-of-two was mauled to death by dogs while house-sitting for a friend, cops have said.

The 28-year-old was supposed to be looking after the home and the owner's dogs at the time when officers found Rebecca McCurdy's lifeless body in the garage.

Investigators believe evidence at the scene indicates she was a victim of a horrific dog attack.

Deputies were called to the home, just west of Skiatook, to conduct a welfare check, and found several Pit Bulls caged in the garage.

The homeowner said he raises the dogs as a hobby and to sell them on.

But officers say one of the dog cages was toppled over and there were multiple signs of a dog attack.

Police are waiting for the official cause of death from the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office.

The dogs have been taken into custody by animal welfare and currently being held pending further investigation.

The young mum's cousin has told ABC news she leaves behind a husband and two small children.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up for the family following her death.

The friend writes: "On Saturday June 19 we lost our beautiful Rebecca. She leaves behind 2 small children and a husband. If you would like to make a donation to help in the future for Rebecca's children anything is graciously appreciated."

So far more than $7,000 (£5346) has been raised on the site in just two days.

Family members, friends, and even strangers have donated to the page, with one person writing: "This is a very tragic story. I do not know the family but I would like to give them a big hug", next to a $100 donation.
