The Yorkshire Ripper terrorised the north of England in the 1970s, mutilating and killing his victims.
From 1975- 1980, Peter Sutcliffe stabbed and bludgeoned at least 20 women and girls, killing 13 of them.
He wasn't caught until 1981, and claimed he had been sent on a mission by God.
Sutcliffe was later diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and transferred to Broadmoor Hospital, before moving to HMP Frankland.
He died from coronavirus last year at the age of 74, having refused treatment.
Despite his heinous crimes, Sutcliffe had a string of female admirers and even tried to remarry in prison.
Here, the Daily Star examines some of his disturbing relationships.
Affair with American cheerleader
Sutcliffe fell in love with Krystal Smith, then 27, after the pair wrote to each other for a year.
In 2019, Sutcliffe asked his ex-wife Sonia for permission to get remarried with the cheerleader, it is claimed.
He even suggested IVF with her after Smith sent the killer perfumed letters, The Sun reported.
He supposedly told a friend: “She’s a lovely looking girl. She has been mentioning for a while that she’d like to be the next Mrs Sutcliffe.

“So I said ‘Yes’. Her parents have told her they support the wedding.”
Later that year, Sutcliffe wrote to Smith and told her she should meet a man closer to her own age – telling her to “move on”.
He warned her that he was “in too deep” but said they could remain friends, the Sun on Sunday reported.

Last year, women sent Sutcliffe a series of saucy selfies to strike up a pen-pal relationship.
They wrote letters packed with sexual references and include raunchy snaps in a bid to entice him to write back.
However, prison bosses at Frankland jail weeded out any snaps that were too raunchy.
A source told the Daily Star: “There is a market for letters, cards and drawings from killers and the prices can be quite high.
“Peter Sutcliffe is known the world over so his material goes for a premium.

“He’s getting a lot of letters now because he is back in the public eye due to being transferred.”
The same year, he was also banned from sending letters to a woman he called his “darling girl”.
She told the Daily Mirror: “He has had girlfriend after girlfriend and when it's gone wrong I have always been there and loyal for Pete."
The serial killer would send teddies and Valentine's Cards to her.
In letters to another man, Sutcliffe described himself as kind, gentle and caring".
Marriage to Sonia Sutcliffe

Sonia Sutcliffe, 70, married the killer on August 10, 1974, a year before his first killing.
She worked as a school teacher while her husband targeted his victims – and was unaware of his vile crimes.
In a taped confession obtained by the Sunday Mirror, Sutcliffe said: "She had no idea, not a clue. I never had any blood on me or anything.
"I was working all day long and she was working as a teacher so I could only do it at night.

"She was deeply shocked when I told her. She couldn't believe it. She knew there must have been something wrong but she had no idea what had happened.
“She was absolutely gobsmacked. It was hard to tell her but rather it come from me than a total stranger."
Sonia visited Sutcliffe while he was in Broadmoor hospital, and the pair did not divorce until 1994.
She stopped visiting him in 2017 after he was moved to Frankland jail, The Sun reported.
