Woman’s furious rant after she’s ‘wedged’ between overweight passengers on plane

A woman who moaned about being wedged between two passengers who were ‘too fat to fly’ has been met with a furious response from American Airlines.

Conservative commentator Sydney Watson was posting about her discomfort, which saw her ‘sandwiched’ between other passengers, to her 300,000 followers online.

The Australian American is a right-wing pundit. Taking to Twitter she said: “If you need a seat belt extender, you are TOO FAT TO BE ON A PLANE”.

She was on a short-haul American Airlines flight, sat between two larger siblings when she added: “I am currently – literally – WEDGED between two OBESE people on my flight,” she wrote. “This is absolutely NOT acceptable or okay.

“If fat people want to be fat, fine. But it is something else entirely when I’m stuck between you, with your arm rolls on my body, for 3 hours.”

She also posted images where she tried to show just how “wedged” she was.

As is often the case with the internet, people were quick to form very strong opinions either in support or against her views.

She reckoned that she had offered the siblings the chance to sit next to one another, an offer they had declined.

She wrote: “I don’t care if this is mean. My entire body is currently being touched against my wishes.

"I can’t even put the armrests down on either side because there’s no f***ing room. I’m sick of acting like fatness to this extent is normal. Let me assure you, it is not”.

But when it comes to American Airlines, Watson’s frustrations fell on deaf ears, with the world’s second-largest airline firing back at her.

Replying to her on Twitter, the company said: “Our passengers come in all different sizes and shapes. We’re sorry you were uncomfortable on your flight.

“We offer a variety of seat sizes and styles, so our customers can select what works best for them.”

Watson didn’t seem to love what they were saying though, simply replying: “We need to talk."

She has since locked in her position on the matter, saying: “So we are clear – I stand by everything I said.

“And have come to find out what happened to me went against American Airlines' own policies regarding overweight passengers.”
