POLICE have identified a person of interest after at least 16 people were shot and killed in Maine on Wednesday.
Robert Card, 40, has become a suspect of the restaurant and bowling alley massacre in the US city of Lewiston.

Who is Robert Card?
In a document circulated to law enforcement officials, Robert Card was described as a firearms instructor believed to be in the Army Reserve and assigned to a training facility in Saco, Maine.
The document also states that Card had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks in the summer of 2023.
It did not provide details about his treatment or condition but said he had reported hearing voices and threatened to shoot up the military base.

A telephone number listed for Card in public records was not in service.
What did he do?
Card is suspected to have shot and killed at least 16 people at Schemengees Bar and Grille and Sparetime Recreation bowling alley in Lewiston on Wednesday.
The Androscoggin County Sheriffs Office released two photos of the suspect on its Facebook page that showed the shooter walking into an establishment with a weapon raised to his shoulder.
Two law enforcement officials said the fatality toll was expected to rise, with dozens also wounded.

The suspect fled into the night following the attack and as of 9pm local time on Wednesday evening, the shooter remains at large.
In photos that were made public by the sheriff’s office, Card could be seen wearing brown clothes and brandishing a high-powered assault-style rifle.
John Miller, chief law enforcement and intelligence analyst for CNN, described the weapon as an AR15-style rifle with a possible telescopic sight.
He noted that the gunman was wearing blue tactical pants with “bulging” pockets, suggesting the possibility that he was carrying extra ammunition.
