Who is Sarah Jane Brown?
Sarah Jane Brown was born Sarah Macaulay on October 31, 1963, in Buckinghamshire.
She is a campaigner for global health and education, and founder and chair of the children's charity Theirworld – originally known as PiggyBankKids.
She is also the executive chair of the Global Business Coalition for Education.
As a youngster, Sarah spent most of her childhood in Tanzania, before moving back to the UK following the separation of her parents when she was seven-years-old.

After earning a degree in psychology from Bristol University, Sarah went on to spend some time working in brand consultancy Wolff Olins, before teaming up with a friend to found the Hobsbawn Macaulay Communications public relations firm.
Sarah gave up her PR business in 2001.
As well as the above, she is the global patron of The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, and a patron of Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres and SHINE Education Trust.
She is also the author of the book Behind The Black Door – a personal memoir about life at 10 Downing Street.

Sarah is married to Gordon Brown, who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1997 to 2007, and Prime Minister from 2007 to 2010.
When did Sarah Jane and Gordon Brown get married?
Sarah Jane and Gordon tied the knot in August 2000.
The couple wed in a private ceremony held in North Queensferry, Fife.
Do they have any children?
The pair are the parents of three children – two sons, John and James Fraser, and a daughter, Jennifer Jane, who tragically died aged just 10 days old in 2002.
In 2020, Sarah told how a piece of her “will always be broken” after losing her premature baby daughter.
Sarah revealed: ''It’s always part of you. There’s a little piece of you that will always be broken, the pain is there.
''It’s a huge loss that Gordon and I live with every day.
"We can remember every moment with her because it was so precious.

Following the tragedy, the couple set up the Jennifer Brown Research Laboratory at Edinburgh Uni and the Theirworld Edinburgh Birth Cohort to research the causes of premature birth.
The laboratory's work is notable for its unified obstetric and neonatal approach to complications in pregnancy and childbirth, with a particular focus on preterm births.
