October was a busy month for President Joe Biden due to Hurricane Ian, the preparation for midterm elections, as well as the opening of his student aid relief program.

While Biden might be busy, that did not stop him from making public appearances and speeches at the White House.

On November 2, 2022, he is scheduled to deliver a major speech on democracy from Capitol Hill, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Jen O’Malley Dillon said during an Axios News Shapers event.

He was expected to speak "on preserving and protecting our democracy as Election Day approaches," a Democratic official tells CNN.

"The President will address the threat of election deniers and those who seek to undermine faith in voting and democracy; and the stakes for our democracy in next week’s election.”

Previously, on October 18, he spoke at a Democratic National Committee event in Washington where he discussed Roe v Wade.

According to NBC News, Biden pledged a push for an abortion rights bill if the Democratic Party is able to retain control of Congress following the midterm elections.

The push will come just months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, and caused several states to start banning the procedure altogether, even in cases of rape and incest.

“President Biden will speak about the choice that voters face this November between Republicans who want a national abortion ban that would criminalize doctors for performing care, and Democrats who want to codify Roe into law to protect women’s reproductive freedom,” an official told NBC.

How long has Joe Biden been in office?

Prior to serving as President, Biden served as Vice President under Barack Obama from January 2009 to January 2017.

A few years later, in 2020, Biden ran against Donald Trump in one of the most controversial elections of all time.

He ultimately beat Trump after securing the 20 electoral votes he needed from Pennsylvania.
