Wannabe artist takes time to downsize, find perfect Arizona home
Lisa Eacker started planning for her retirement home more than three years ago after attending a seminar put on by The Steller Group’s Senior Solutions division.
These past three years, Jen Carroll—a Steller Group agent—has strategized the whole move with Eacker. This included reviewing financing options, touring local homes in the process of deciding whether to stay in Denver or move out of state and providing resources and direction to effectively downsize and declutter.
Two years ago, Eacker retired as the employee benefits director at Jefferson County School District. This year, she prepared her townhome in Westminster to sell and finally found her ideal retirement home in Arizona.
“She’s done everything right,” says Carroll. “It’s okay for this process to take time. It doesn’t have to be a quick band-aid process.”
Arizona community with arts focus
Eacker, who calls herself a “wannabe artist,” knew she wanted to find a retirement community with a vibrant arts and crafts focus. She’s a self-taught jewelry maker who wants to learn more skills. And she hopes to do more woodworking.
She found what she wanted in Green Valley, Arizona, and plans to close on her new home there on April 29. She’s already been busy selling furniture and packing at her Westminster home.
Working with Carroll and the team at Steller made the process easier.
“Jen’s been very supportive,” Eacker says. “This move is much more daunting than just moving down the street. It was helpful to be able to talk through all the options.”
Westminster home available soon
Once Eacker moves, Steller’s complimentary full-service staging service will prepare her home to show.
The 2,100-square-foot ranch townhome with a walkout basement is in the Stratford Lakes area, close to walking paths, and features mountain views.
“It’s been a good place to be for 10 years,” Eacker says. “The neighbors are friendly and helpful.”
The news and editorial staffs of The Denver Post had no role in this post’s preparation.
