Greater Manchester has received “danger to life” flood warnings today. The River Mersey in Didsbury has already burst its banks. There are now fears that there could be further flooding across the region.
The storm warnings cover the River Mersey at East Didsbury and the Mersey at West Didsbury and Northenden.
Residents have been told to call 999 if they are in immediate danger.
People have been told to make sure they have an emergency kit and evacuate if told to do so.
There have been further flood warnings across Greater Manchester.
Heavy rain is forecast throughout the day across many parts of the UK.
Large areas of the River Mersey, in Cheadle Wood, Fletcher Moss and at Sale Water Park are expected to see heavy rain.
A warning has also been issued for the River Roch in Littleborough.
Residents living in areas covered by the warnings are being urged to “act now”.
