Amarillo, Texas, city officials are stumped by a human-like animal seen on zoo surveillance footage last month and they took to social media in their search for answers.
The city tweeted: ‘Is it a person with a strange hat who likes to walk at night? A chupacabra? Do you have any idea of what this UAO – Unidentified Amarillo Object could be?’
Amarillo residents were quick to provide witty answers, with several weighing in that it was a skinwalker – a Native American mythological shape-shifting creature.
One Twitter wrote: ‘Clearly a skinwalker phasing between two densities/dimensions and what better place but the zoo. I mean. DUH.’
Others suggested it could be the cartoon character Swiper from Dora The Explorer or Sonic the Hedgehog.
The city of Amarillo, Texas, was stumped by a human-like animal creature found lingering outside the zoo last month. They jokingly dubbed it as a UAO – Unidentified Amarillo Object
John Dough wrote on Twitter: ‘Obviously Swiper,’ alongside a side-by-side comparison of the beloved children’s character and the creepy zoo wanderer.
Leanne, however, joked that the half-animal was actually insurrectionist Jacob Chansley, who breeched the US Capitol wearing a furry headdress, outfitted with horns, and the American flag painted on his face.
Leanne tweeted: ‘Is this guy [Chansley] on the loose?’
Chansley was sentenced to 41 months in prison in November 2021 for his role in the January 6 riot.
Amarillo residents were quick to give their takes, including comparing the creepy creature to the beloved children’s creature Swiper and insurrectionist Jacob Chansley
Amarillo’s Parks and Recreation Department Director Michael Kashuba told Newsweek the zoo found the startling image while casually reviewing recent footage with staffers and reported the creature never got inside the zoo.
The creature was walking near the park, which is located inside Thompson Park, early in the morning, at 1.25am.
‘It’s kind of an anomaly, a unique picture,’ Kashuba told Newsweek. ‘I think it’s exciting to see the interest in something like this.
‘It’s obviously out of the norm for us. Usually we catch pictures of our animals moving through exhibits and things like that.’
DailyMail.com has contacted the Amarillo Parks and Recreation Department for comment.
